Position Summary
The Associate of
Graduate Admissions will perform general admissions work: attracting, selecting
and enrolling students to NYU Shanghai’s jointly offered Master of Science
programs with the NYU Stern School of Business. The Associate will be part of a
collegial and highly skilled team responsible for the following: development
and execution of marketing strategy; receipt, processing, and review of
applications; issuance of admissions decisions; customer relations.
NYU Shanghai and NYU
Stern’s joint MS programs, in Data Analytics & Business Computer and in
Quantitative Finance, were launched in Spring 2018. Since then, the programs
have attracted worldwide interest and enrolled their first cohorts in Summer
2019. Recruitment for the third cohorts is ongoing. For more information about

The Office of Graduate
and Advanced Education (“OGAE”) promotes educational initiatives beyond the
undergraduate level at NYU Shanghai by overseeing the formation and management
of master’s, professional, and doctoral education, and other closely related
non-degree programs. The successful candidate will join the university during a
time of significant anticipated growth in the OGAE and will have the
opportunity to contribute in an impactful way to NYU Shanghai’s continued
effort to become a leader in Chinese and international higher education.

The main responsibilities include:
● Serve as a primary point-of-contact for
admissions inquiries and consultations, providing in-depth information on
admissions requirements, prerequisite courses, program resources and
curriculum, scholarships and career development resources;
● Deliver presentations about the programs and
represent the school at admissions activities as well as at other professional
events;
● Help shape the incoming graduate classes by
evaluating and selecting students for the programs, this includes reading
applications and interviewing prospective students;
● Assess applicants’ information for admissions
decisions based on the applicant pool, the programs’ requirements, applicants’
academic and professional readiness, evaluate transcripts, applicants’
motivation and experiences;
● Analyze effectiveness of admissions marketing
initiatives and actively engage in marketing and data analysis and evaluate
effectiveness of all recruitment, marketing and yield activities;
● Implement the marketing strategy of the
admissions cycle, including digital marketing, CRM, surveys and analysis,
advertising, customer service, information sessions on-campus, off-campus
events, and yield;
● Develop marketing materials and activities,
related manuals and materials for informational hand-out, email marketing
campaigns, website, webinars, on-campus information sessions and off-campus
events; and execute social media communication and engagement strategy, work
with internal and external marketing partners to implement successful campaigns
in line with the programs’ overall marketing plan;
● Coordinate with relevant departments and
schools, whether in New York or in Shanghai, to ensure
effective and smooth admissions services;
● Execute other graduate admissions initiatives
and assignments related to the marketing and operations of the programs;
● At all times be familiar and act in
accordance with university and OGAE policies;
● Other related responsibilities as may from
time to time be assigned in accordance with OGAE needs.
Qualifications
Required Education
● Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree
preferred. Graduate professional degree highly valued;
● Study abroad experience highly valued.
Required Experience
● 1 year of experience (including internships
experience) in marketing, recruiting, admissions, public relations, supply
chain operations, logistics or other related area. Working experience in an English-language
setting highly valued;
● Working experience in international higher
education, business or other professional degree education highly valued.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Superior
maturity, judgment, professionalism, attention to detail and interpersonal
skills are essential;
● Candidates must be self-motivated, outgoing,
energetic, personable, team-spirited, dedicated and hard-working, with an
ability to effectively promote NYU Shanghai and its programs;
● Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
and independently in a cross-cultural environment, developing effective
relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to implement
programs successfully;
● Demonstrated ability to understand and
support institutional values while also thinking creatively about institutional
problem-solving;
● Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work
under pressure, and meet deadlines;
● Knowledge of public relations and
marketing/design best practices highly valued;
● Proficiency in English required. Excellent
oral (including public speaking) and written communication skills;
● Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, Google
Docs/Apps, other database applications and Internet research;
● Working knowledge of web and social media
tools highly valued. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or comparable
design software highly valued;
● Admissions events may take place during the
evening and weekends, and Admissions Associates will be expected to attend and
participate at these events;
● China and international travel may
be required.
