The University of Macau

The Centre for Japanese Studies
(CJS) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for position
of Visiting Instructor of Japanese Language. The candidate is expected to
engage in teaching Japanese language courses as well as organizing the Centre’s
student activities. The initial appointment is up to 10 months with a
possibility of a second contract (10-month contract) upon mutual agreement.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a
Master’s degree in the field of Japanese Linguistics, Japanese Education,
Japanese Literature, or Japanese Culture from an accredited program and some
experience and/or qualifications in teaching Japanese language to non-native
students. Applicants should have their degree in hand upon application. The
successful candidates also need to possess excellent organizational abilities,
strong communication skills, and effective leadership qualities. Excellent
command of Japanese language is expected. Ability to speak Chinese (Putonghua
or Cantonese) may be an advantage, but more important are abilities to work
well with a multicultural staff. Academic research and publication are not
required for this position.
The selected candidate is
expected to assume duty in August 2024.
Remuneration
A taxable monthly remuneration
starting from MOP25,480 (approximately USD3,145) will be commensurate with the
successful applicant’s academic qualification and relevant professional
experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively
around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
